Classics Illustrated Joint European Series (JES)
The Joint European Series (JES) of Classics Illustrated was the term coined to represent those titles and issues printed across Europe – which included versions in German, Swedish and Dutch. 67 different titles were published in these languages that were never originally published in English, along with a two-part special issue of The First World War. In the 1980s – long after CI were no longer commercially published – a devotee of the series translated the JES titles and painstakingly adapted the artwork so that these could be appreciated in English for the first time. It is these translations that we at CCS Books are now publishing, having refreshed the artwork and covers. Also available in this series are facsimile copies of the British Only Classics Illustrated editions, never published in the normal US series and now highly collectible.
The “Double Duo” series is a pocket-sized collection of JES titles, in English, printed as two titles to each book.
The all-new Classics Illustrated Expanded World Series brings even more wonderful exclusive classic stories and true histories from all over the world to your collection – available in English for the first time.
